Modern Culture and Crafts, Folklore Groups, and Professional Art

The Tubalars have left their indelible mark on the development of the culture and art of the Altai Republic. The 150th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Altai storyteller Nikolai Ulagashev was celebrated with the Ulagashev Museum opening in the village of Paspaul on March 19, 2013. This Museum operates as a branch of the Anokhin National Museum of the Altai Republic.

Pop group “Piket,” headed by Viktor Surazakov, is well known among the population of the Choysky district. This group has had the official title of “folk” since 1995. It consists of three people and operates at an inter-settlement leisure center. The Maiminsky district is home to the folk ensemble “Chaptigan”, created in 1991. It consists of 10 people and operates based on the rural House of Culture in the village of Saidys.
