The Nanai.  Demographics (population dynamics, urban/rural population, gender and age breakdown, youth cohort) 

The total number of Nanais, according to the 2020 All-Russian Population Census, is 11,668 people (5,454 men and 6,214 women).

The Soviet era inaugurated tremendous changes in the life of the indigenous peoples of the Lower Amur and effected major migrations and urbanization. 

The 2010 census recorded most Nanai as living in the Khabarovsk territory and put their number at 11.009 persons. The table below presents the dynamics of the Nanai’s numbers per censuses from 1860 to 2010.
